While the calendar still says spring, in my book, summer starts Memorial Day weekend. So according to me (and the heat index on most days) its summer time in Texas. So what's going on this summer!? John Houston Custom Homes builds in some of the most community and family centered areas in North Texas and this list of events is a perfect example of why these communities make great places to #buildyourstory.

Hawkins Spring Park located in Midlothian on the southwest corner of Midlothian Parkway and F.M. 1387, offers movies in the park (weather permitting) on the second Saturday of each month throughout the summer. The first one of the year, is coming up Saturday June 11th, 2016 at 7:30 (dusk) Bring your favorite treat and a comfy seat and enjoy a night under the stars watching Inside Out.

-Burleson: Hot Sounds of Summer Concert Series
One of the best things about Summer is getting to take advantage of the outdoors. The Burleson Hot Sounds of Summer Convert Series is another opportunity to get outside, be in community with others and not spend a ton of money. This event is set up in Old Town Burleson in front of City Hall on Ellison Street and features some great cover and tribute bands. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic and enjoy the cool summer air while listening to some great tunes. Visit Burleson Parks and Recreations to see dates and times.

-Waco: Magnolia Market
The show Fixer Upper featuring Chip and Joanna Gaines has brought a ton of attention to the town of Waco and for good reason. It showcases the revitalization efforts of the couple and the community in the area. Now, their newest store Magnolia Market is a huge hit with locals and visitors alike. Even if home decorating isn't your thing, Chip and Joanna have created a fun, family focused hang out area in front of the renowned silos behind their shop.
A grassy area with games for the kiddos to play, food trucks and tea stands and a soon to be garden area make this an ideal place to hang out this summer.
